Comparison Between Leonardo DiCaprio And Robert De Niro

Posted by Kabbo On February - 17 - 2010

Martin Scorsese returns to film making after winning the academy award for The Departed with his fav star Leonardo DiCaprio. With ‘Shutter Island’ set to blow the collective minds of moviegoers across the country. Leonardo DiCaprio is kind of a really big deal. This time he move to a completely different script which keeps the audience humored and thrilled from the first scene till the last we had a chance to sit down with the film’s stars — Leo and Sir Ben Kingsley — to talk about all of the intensity and drama that went into shooting the Martin Scorsese-directed film.

So what did we learn? For one, Leo would never compare his acting skills to those of Robert De Niro and also that he could hold his own in a Boston pizza parlor. As for Sir Ben, we get into his brain about playing a psychiatrist and also how Leo held up against the Oscar winner.

In our chat, DiCaprio tells Moviefone that despite the intensity of his ‘Shutter’ role, he’s not one of those actors who takes the role home with him. “You hear about a lot of actors that carry their character with them. When they’re off-set, they have to keep it going. I feel like if I don’t have that time to shut off and be alone in my hotel room… there’s no way I’ll have the energy to continue on.”

So, with his fourth collaboration with Martin Scorsese, does Leo consider himself the new DeNiro, who Scorsese famously paired up with on classic films like ‘Raging Bull’ and ‘Goodfellas’? “That to me is the greatest cinema duo of all time, so I wouldn’t dare even have that conversation.”

Kingsley, who plays the ominous Dr. Cawley in ‘Shutter Island,’ tells us that working with DiCaprio was “a joy” and that Leo “had to propel himself into extremely painful areas, but it didn’t come as any surprise to me that he was able to fill those areas with great intelligence and vigor. He’s an absolutely perfect actor, and he’s a real actor. It’s continually thrilling to be with them.”

New Plot Details For Riddick Sequel

Posted by William Edwards On February - 17 - 2010

We recently learned that Universal was developing another sequel in the Chronicles of Riddick saga. David Twohy, who directed the previous films, is currently working on a script. Now The Hollywood Reporter has released some exciting plot details of the movie:

“Riddick” delivers on both counts. Though billed as a back-to-basics approach to the character popularized by Diesel, the script features the character — the most wanted man in the galaxy — left for dead on a barren alien planet, dealing with “trisons” (three-legged bisons) and “mud demons.” He must then contend with two squads of bounty hunters, one of which ride rockets called jetcycles.

So what do you think? Does this small description arouse your interest? Or does this sound like more of the same old?

After the grand success of “Avatar,” James Cameron is Hollywood’s new leader of greatness. It’s no surprise, then, that filmmakers looking to master the complexities of 3-D, science-fiction and state-of-the-art special effects are seeking him out for guidance as if he were a bearded man sitting atop a mountain.

Now, in a new development that should thrill fans of our friendly neighborhood webslinger. We heard that “Spider-Man” director Marc Webb, the latest filmmaker who wants to meet with Cameron.

Webb wants to do the next one in 3-D, which they’ve announced that they want to do. So, we want to try to support that as much as possible.

New Classic Horror Flick ‘The Wolfman’

Posted by Kabbo On February - 15 - 2010

Universal Studios revives the classic lycanthrope with this tale of a man who experiences an unsettling transformation after he returns to his ancestral home in Victorian-era Great Britain and gets attacked by a rampaging werewolf  and subsequently cursed by a werewolf.

This movie is an instant horror classic. It has everything a werewolf fan would want: Gore, blood, atmosphere, great soundtrack, great looking werewolf and good actors. This movie is not like ‘The Wolfman’ from 1941. Instead, the makers went ALL-IN with this interpretation and really exemplified what’s in our deepest fantasies: Intense werewolf-action. This movie doesn’t try to be original in any way. What it does, however, is to take a basic story, a basic concept and develop it in an interesting way. This movie doesn’t have any werewolves that are cute and look like wolves just as Twilight. In that way, it manages to break the monotony of modern horror movies (ghost movies or torture movies). This is a RATED R, Universal monster film that should be taken for what it is: A tense adrenaline rush through the werewolf lore with great effects. This, my friends, is a movie from horror lovers to horror lovers.
