2011: Hollywood’s Disappointing Year So Far

2011 has been outrageous for Hollywood. I suspect there has not been a year when there was no movie to write home about business wise or critical acclaim wise till November. If you want to remember last good movies released, i do not know how far back you are going to go but I have to go back to The Rebound and No Strings Attached. One of them definitely does not fall entirely on 2011.

And to make situations worse, they both are romantic comedies. Now, somehow or the other, romantic comedies are never satisfying enough for Hollywood.

The mega releases of the year- Pirates of The Carribean- On Stranger Tides, the 5th franchisee of The Fast and The Furious series- Fast 5, Transformers: dark of The Moon have all been disappointing.

Kungfu Panda 2 and The Hangover 2 were average while the first parts were clearly better.

The last out and out good movie was The Social Network. And, for an amazing one you have to go back as long as Inception.

So, January to October 2011, it has been a very disappointing year man !
