Twilight Director Takes On Hamlet

Director Catherine Hardwicke of Twilight fame has been brought on board by Overture Films to direct their latest venture, a modern teen angst-filled retelling of Hamlet. The film will star Emile Hirsch as the tortured hero contemplating revenge on his uncle for the murder of his father. This appears to be a retelling in the same tradition as Baz Luhrman’s Romeo + Juliet, though it won’t retain the Shakespearean language like Baz’s film. The scriptwriters have promised a modern day suspense thriller.
