Michael Bay’s Box Office Chart

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen has crossed even the wildest expectations of its makers and fans in terms of box office gross. It made a jaw-dropping $60.6 million in it’s first day alone, and has grossed $170 million in total so far (it’s been playing in US theaters for only three days!). The guys over at MovieFill have published an interesting chart comparing the budgets for Bay’s last seven movies, their box office gross and their opening weekend gross. The chart suggests that the larger the budget for a Michael Bay movie, the larger is it’s box office gross. But notice how much steeper the red line is compared to the yellow line. That suggests increasing Bay’s budget by a small amount results in a dramatically increased total gross. Are the studios taking note?

Natalie Portman will be playing the role of Jane Foster, the love interest of the title character in Kenneth Branagh’s Thor. Her casting has officially been confirmed by Marvel yesterday (July 13). The film will co-star Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Tom Hiddleston as the villain Loki. The synopsis of the film from FirstShowing.net:
This epic adventure spans the Marvel Universe; from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is The Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans as punishment. Once here, Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.
